The Balinese is a cat of an oriental type with Siamese colouring and a semi-long coat. It has a slender, elegant body, with long tapering lines, lithe and well muscled. The shoulders are not wider than the hips. The head is wedge shaped with straight lines. The wedge starts at the nose and gradually increases in width on each side to the ears. There should not be a whisker break in these lines. The skull, viewed in profile, is slightly convex. The nose is long, straight and continuing the line from the forehead without any break. The muzzle is narrow, the chin is of medium size. The end of the chin is in vertical line with the tip of the nose. The ears are large, pointed and wide at the base, prolonging the wedge line. Eyes are medium-sized, neither protruding nor recessed, almond in shape, their colour is vivid bright blue. Legs are long, ending with small, oval paws. The texture of coat is fine and silky, of medium length on the body, at the frill and shoulders and on the tail it is slightly longer, forming a plume. The coat is without a woolly undercoat. The Balinese has pointed face, ears, legs and tail. The ground colour is glacial white. The lighter the shade of the body the better, as the standard requires maximum contrast between the body and the points. Insufficient contrast is considered as a fault and could fundamentally affect the exhibition rating. Two Balinese cats must be bred with each other in order that all offspring have the Siamese colouring with a semi-long coat.
